Photo Archive

The AUTC photo archive is a collection of photographs dating from 1949 to 2000.
From the 1950s Kodachrome colour slide film became “affordable” ($2-$4 a shot in today’s money) to some students who took lightweight cameras on tramping and climbing trips.
This collection has been scanned from the slide and print collections of over 20 AUTC photographers and spans five decades.
It shows places AUTC visited, huts that are long gone, braids wandering across South Island river flats and glaciers receding as the decades pass.
It also provides documentary evidence of the peculiar antics of club members over time.
The collection is still growing and former members with corrections or material to contribute should contact Peter Jenkins ([email protected]).
